How do I get an API key?

Sign in to your workspace at app.baseten.co and open API keys from the sidebar.

Create a personal API key for local development and testing. For production workloads, use a team API key instead — team keys aren’t tied to an individual user, can be scoped to a team, and support permission levels like inference-only or metrics-only access.

Store the key in an environment variable such as BASETEN_API_KEY and pass it in the Authorization header as a Bearer token. The quickstart walks through your first request end to end.
